Child First aims to provide a consistent and caring environment, in which young people feel safe and secure. The welfare of the young people in our care is paramount. Our objective is that their experience with Child First will enhance their sense of self worth giving them the opportunity to develop respect for themselves and others.
Research has highlighted the need for a permanent and stable home to meet the needs of young people and to help them reach their potential. Child First aims to help the people in our care to secure permanency in their lives. We will assist them in returning to their immediate families when appropriate or help prepare them to move to and maintain a placement within a substitute family.
If necessary we can offer a permanent home with Child First and provide a planned and supported path to more independent living. We can offer support to children between 8-16 years old of either gender. The team is very experienced in supporting children that present challenging behaviour and have suffered emotional turmoil.
1. Facilitating the emotional growth and development of young people in our care by providing support and appropriate challenges through our experienced staff team.
2. Provision of comprehensive care plans and individual daily timetables incorporating education and leisure activities.
3. Assisting the development of personal and social skills through a range of stimulating and educational activities.
4. Having in place reasonable boundaries, which are consistently reinforced. This will provide a framework to enable young people to take responsibility for the control of their own behaviour.
5. Ensuring that the young people in our care have access to all possible educational opportunities.
6. Supporting and motivating staff to provide high standards of care, through supervision and training.
7. Respecting individuality and embracing difference. We will challenge discriminatory and oppressive behaviour, practices and attitudes.
8. Each young person is assigned a keyworker who is responsible for co-ordinating administration, writing L.A.C. reports and completing individual care plans.
