Welcome to Child First

Care and Control

To create a safe and calm environment, the staff seek to build positive relationships with all children / young people residing with us. Relationships should be based on mutual respect and trust. This is established by the staff being consistent and child centred.

House rules and boundaries are made clear to all children / young people. They are reinforced by a system of rewards and sanctions, which seeks to encourage reasonable behaviour.

The pre-admission risk assessment is the foundation for assessing possible risks relating to the young person.  From this we identify appropriate safeguards and intervention procedures for staff to follow.

In the event of severely challenging behaviour, all staff are trained in behavioural assessment, early intervention planning, positive programming and physical interventions.  The syllabus used during this process has been taught by qualified Team Teach instructors.
