Staffing

Child First seeks to employ a staff group that reflects the diversity of the client group.  We actively encourage suitable candidates from minority groups to apply to ensure a balanced team.  Staff are subjected to a thorough and robust vetting system.  The successful candidates then undertake a process of induction and shadowing to ensure that they are prepared to deliver the high standard of care we demand.  Staff are supported to continue their development using both internal and external training and local training consortiums.

Staff retention is an important goal for Child First.  We recognise that this gives stability and continuity to the care of the children/young people and the running of the home.  We offer good working conditions and an open, supportive atmosphere.  Staff comments, concerns and suggestions are listened to and encouraged.  Supervision is give monthly by senior staff and training needs are identified during supervision and appraisals.

Our staff attend a thorough induction programme and a full and comprehensive programme that runs throughout the year.

Our Managers are trained to NVQ Level 4 or above and our support staff to a minimum of Level 3.
